September 2008
Welcome to issue 36 of DNN Creative Magazine.
This issue explores the FCK Editor. The FCK Editor is used in various DotNetNuke modules such as the Text / HTML module and the Forum. The FCK Editor allows you to add text, images and any HTML code you require and has an interface similar to Microsoft Word.
We begin this issue with a demonstration of each FCK Editor Toolbar button function, covering simple text editing techniques through to advanced configuration options for links.
We then demonstrate how to change the skin of the FCK Editor, how to upload it to your DotNetNuke portal and how to apply the new skin to the FCK Editor.
Following on from this we show you how to configure the content area within the FCK Editor so that it displays the same text styling as your skin. We demonstrate how to solve problems that occur when dark colours are used for a skin background, such as text being unreadable in the editor. Finally we show you how to configure the settings in the FCK Editor within a single instance, modules of the same type and across a portal in your DotNetNuke installation.
To round this issue off, we have two podcasts. The first is an interview with Chris Chodnicki and Kevin Schreiner of R2i where we discuss the release of their new product Open Web Studio (OWS). Then, to close the issue we have a discussion between Lee Sykes and Richard Wootton of DNN Creative about what is happening in the world of DotNetNuke this month. This will be a regular segment of the magazine where we aim to keep you updated on all the latest news in DotNetNuke.
This issue comes complete with 13 video tutorials and 37 minutes of podcast interviews.
