While following this tutorial, and trying to upload the DNN-Gray.zip file on the Host-Extensions page, I recieve the following error. A critical error has occurred. Could not find a part of the path '..\Portals\_default\Temp\yboflfbt\.dnn'. So far, I cannot find any information on this error message. Thank you in advance for your help. Joe |

Hmmm. One thing that comes to mind is file permissions. Are you able to install other modules or extensions? Other skins? Is it this skin, or any skin?

I downloaded a free version 5 skin and that seemed to upload and install fine. I may have to contact my hosting company to get the version 4 skins to work. Thank you for your insight. Joe |

Hi Joseph, wondering if you could help... I spent the whole day trying to install a skin and all I get is this:
A critical error has occurred. Could not find file 'D:\WebData\goldeni\Install\Temp\yygzkciy\Alpha.dnn'
the file is inside the zipped file but I cannot figure out why it is not finding it...
I tried just about everything but it does not work... I attached the zip file with the installation for you to review if you need to. Please reply
Thanks Stefano

Stephano,
Is that the file that you tried to install? If so, it is not a proper skin file. It contains components of a container.
The error message that you showed is a file access error. It would help to see the original file that you tried to install. |

Hey Stefano, I had to uninstall and reinstall DNN on my hosting companies web server to get rid of that error message. I just deleted all the DNN files through FTP and downloaded and copied over the latest files. I had to go through the setup process again, but it seemed to fix my problem. |

Hi Joseph, thank you for the reply. I am not sure I understand... the file I tried to install is in the zip file and it references skin elements - could you be more specific? thank you so much - Stefano

Stefano, What I'm saying is that there was something wrong with my DotNetNuke installation as a whole. I had to have it reinstalled before I could get any skins or containers to work. What Mr. Craig said is probably true, there is a rights issue conflict, and for me, a fresh install of DotNetNuke fixed my rights issue. Joe |

Hi Joe, thanks for the suggestion - I will definitely have my IT guy re-install the whole thing since yesterday I also lost the content into Admin> Site Settings - the pane was empty.
In any case could you do me a favor and look at the zip file (attached) contents and tell me if my skin has any errors? I went over it a hundred times and I cannot find anything - Thank you so much

Oh and by the way - I tried to install other skins including Andreas01 and they all install flawlessly... (very frustrating) |

Just having things in a zip file isn't enough. The file contents must be in a specific format to be interpreted as a skin or container installation. |

Dear Mr. Craig, thank you for the reply. I did format and package the files according to the tutorial and another video produced by Nik Kalyani - I have attached the zip file, which you can unzip and, if you would be so kind and have the time, review to see if I did anything wrong - Best Regards - Stefano Bossi
