In your FCKEditor tutorial you inserted your own styles into the FCKStyles.xml fie based on the  additional styles on the portal skin.css.

My question is, will the new styles on the FCKStyle sheet work on every page within that site?

I know that you said that due to a bug within the editor that extra styles from different skins cannot as be included.

However, if I use a page (within the same site) which differs from the main portal page and therefore uses its own skin.css will it be able to use the extra FCKStyles, taken from the portal skin.css.  Or must I also insert the extra styles into the every skin.css which differs from the portal?

Hi Lynn,

From the tutorial, if you place the FCKStyles file direct in the folder to replace the default styles, all of these styles will be displayed in all of your portals in your installation no matter which skin you are using.

Once the bug from FCKEditor has been fixed, this should be more flexible, but currently we just have this method.

So following your question, here's an example:

Skin 1 has style "quote"
Skin 2 has style "imageborder"

We are in a page which has skin 1 applied.

In your FCKEditor you have added both of these styles to the XML file. - This just adds the div tags to apply a class to your text, so if we are in a page with skin 1 applied and apply the style "imageborder" the style will not display because the style will not be listed in skin1. - The div tags and class will be there, but because skin 1 has not specified anything for class "imageborder" you will still have plain styles.

I don't know, I haven't tested this in a while, let us know if you try it out.

I don't think it's fixed yet? I'm using DNN 4.5.3 and the FCKEditor that comes with it still has the bug.

I'll post a message on the FCKEditor forum and keep you posted...
