Greetings.

I want to add content to a dnn 4.5.1 installation that i have on godaddy. However, in a couple of months time, i will need to move all the content to my own server (sbs 2003). 

Does anyone know of a program or way to simply add in the content and modules without having to start over on the new installation. I don't fancy rebuilding either as i want to be able to quickly republish the content to the new location. It will be a transfer to a new installation of the same version number.

Creating a template with data is probably the best way to do this. Depending on the modules you are using, you will get some to most of your content.
Make sure you have all the modules pre-loaded on your new site before you install the template using the admin wizard.

There is also a complicated process that has to do with copying databases, etc. I think it may even be somewhere on this site. However, when I read it, I knew it was probably beyond my capabilites.

I would ask GoDaddy if they can create a backup of your site - so you will need a backup file of your database and all of your dnn files.

You can then take all of these files and restore them to your new server. - If you use a host such as powerdnn.com they can restore the files for you and take away all of the troubleshooting problems.

This is the best method for transferring all of the data, otherwise it's the template method which can not always work 100% if it is a large site or if some of the modules do not have 'export content' feature as part of the module.
