In your recent video on upgrading from v5.x to v7.x, I noticed that you were upgrading from v5.6. My DNN instance is using v5.2.2. Should I upgrade to v5.6 first, and then upgrade to v7.x. Or, can I go right from v5.2.2 to v7.x?

ALWAYS follow the recommendations at
http://www.dnnsoftware.com/wiki/pag...rade_path.
In your case, upgrade to 5.4.4, and then follow the path.
ALWAYS do your upgrade on a copy of your live site, and then move it once you have tested it to make sure that there are no issues.

The DNN suggested upgrade path says, when upgrading from v5.6 to v7, to go through v6.2 on your way to v7. But, your training video goes right from v5.6 to v7.x. Why did you skip over v6.2 in your training video?

Sometimes you can make a jump like that, and sometimes you can't. It depends on what you have installed (modules, etc.)
So ... the safest way to do that is to go step by step, as outlined in the Suggested Upgrade Path.
When I do this, I test after each upgrade. When all is well at a particular step, I make a complete site backup (database and file directory) so that I can back up one step if the next step has a problem.
You can always try to do the upgrade in one step, as Andy did in the tutorial, but you may hit a bump in the process.

After upgrading several DNN5x sites to DNN7, I've discovered some things that can make the difference between success and failure:
1. Apply a DNN-provided skin and container between major versions (Minimal Extropy, Dark Knight, etc.). Third party skin packs designed for a previous version can throw errors which prevent you from accessing certain parts of the site.
2. Attempt to figure out which modules will not be needed on the future site, and delete them before upgrading.
3. Upgrade all third party modules on the major version before continuing. (This might also be necessary between 6.1.x and 6.2.x.)
4. ALWAYS backup database and files before continuing to the next version. This can save a LOT of time if things go wrong...
5. Cross your fingers.

To this I would add: ALWAYS follow the suggested upgrade path:
