Hi, I am following the instructions on the sitemap video to verify with google. I have verified the site. However when I click on the url at the top of the sitemap page (as instructed to do on your video) it takes me to the homepage, not to an XML page of code. I am using dnn 6.2. The original url name has been changed as the client realised that his url would be better in a longer version. So the new url is pointing to the older url for the site. Therefore in the site settings page the sitmap url is different to the url on the sitemap page. Has this got anything to do with my problem? If so, how do I fix it? Thanks |

Hi, in reference to the above request for help, I really need some help on this. Why doesn't my sitemap page behave just the same as yours does in the video. I have asked my host for support re this but they are not getting back to me either. They have asked me to looked for a sitemap.aspx in the root folder. I have done this and it doesn't exist. Is this something to do with my problem? |

Pam, I'll try to look at this in some detail, but it probably won't be for a few days. In the meantime, can anyone help? |

Hi again, further to my question. I read that my sitemap.xml should be here wwwroot\DNN\Portals\0\Sitemap\sitemap.xml but I don't have this. Is this something to do with my problem? Also I have asked on the DNN forums site and someone else seems to have had the same problem with dnn 6.1. Chris Hammond's reply was "In my experience the extension on the sitemap makes no difference, the content of the sitemap is still in the XML format, and Google handles it like any other sitemap." But this is not true as Google doesn't want to know about an HTML file for a sitemap. Please see his answer here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources...posts.aspx Kind regards |

Have you gone through the Google verification process and have you added your site to your webmaster tools. DotNetNuke doesn't have a sitemap.xml file that is stored in the portal root. Instead, the SiteMap.aspx page returns a current xml file when Google visits the site. It is the exact same thing that would happen if you stored a SiteMap.xml file. By doing it this way, the "file" is always current. You can test this by plugging the http://yoursite.com/SiteMap.aspx into a browser window. What is returned is the "SiteMap.xml" file. Chris Hammond's reply to a related question on 7/6 is correct. |

Reading through your message again ... it's not clear why there is a problem when you click on the SiteMap.aspx link. Did you clear the cache first? If you do that, does it still fail? Have your placed a sitemap.xml file in your installation by any chance? |

Hi Joe, Greetings from Oz. Yes, I have verified the site address with Google Webmaster. Yes I have cleared the caches on all my browsers. When I then put the address on the admin sitemap page into the address bar http://businessinsuranceprofessiona...teMap.aspx it simply takes me back to the home page of the site http://businessinsuranceprofessionals.com.au/, not to an xml file page. And no, I haven't put an sitemap.xml file into my installation. I have tried resubmitting the sitemap address as per the site's admin>sitemap page into Google Webmaster and every time it tells me there is an error with the page as it is an HTML file and not an XML file. Should I just ignore the error message and leave it there? I'm really a bit stumped as to what to do now? Kind regards, Pam. |

PS. This is the error message from Google Webmaster "Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page. Please use a supported sitemap format instead." Pam |

Are you using any URL rewriter such as URL Master or PageBlaster? As for the HTML error, that is because Google sees the same thing that you see when it tries to visit SiteMap.aspx -- it sees the home page, not the XML that is supposed to be delivered by SiteMap.aspx. |

Or is there anything that may have disabled coreSitemapProvider? |
