Using the Visual Studio compiled module template, there are three user controls (Edit, Settings, and View). I have a module set up that display some data from the database, and I was wondering 2 things: 1.) Is there a way that I can add a Administrator page that lets me add data to the database through this module, if so, how? 2.) How do I find the logged in user's role?
Thanks,
Jim

Jim,
The usual way of doing things is to have the three "pages" for the module.
---View is what users see.
-- Settings is what Administrators see along with the other module settings.
-- Edit is there for you to use as you see fit. Some use it to replace the Settings, leaving that only for the common module settings. You could use that for your page to add data.
It's possible to add other controls, so you can have more than the three basic pages.
For module development, pick up a copy of Mitchel Sellers book on the topic. There is also one by Michael Washington and Ian Lackey. Also, Michael's adefwebserver.com site has lots of useful module development information.
For the other question, there are several methods in DotNetNuke.Security.Roles.RoleController that return roles for a user.

Oh, if you are not using Chris Hammond's template, you should check it out and consider using it. It's really good at doing the module packaging, as well as some other nice features.
Also, check out Chris' multi-part video tutorial at DotNetNuke.com on module construction. It is superb!

I am using Chris Hammond's template, so I can use the Edit control for adding data. All take a look at some of the other sites you mentioned.
