Hello,

In my forum a member asked if I could have the Avatars appear without logging in. Is their a setting in which I could change where have members Avatar appear when people are just viewing my forum without logging in? Also, how do I add smileys and other bells and whistles to make my forum a little more fun to be on?

Are there any tutorials or other information that can help me understand more of what the 5.00 DNN forum can provide and how to make those changes? I already installed and created the forum using DNN Mags Forum Tutorial (Great tutorial) but now I need to understand more of how the intricate functions and features work.

I doubt that this can be done because, if you are not logged in, the forum software cannot know who you are. The DotNetNuke framework doesn't support cookies that carry identity when not logged in.

As for the forum software, you should be aware that it is due to be replaced by ActiveForums (the software used here) and ActiveSocial in the (I think) 6.1 release of DotNetNuke. That should be later this year as 6.0 is due soon. So, if you want to look toward the future, you can, I think, get a copy of the free version of ActiveModules and take a look at it.

Actually, I don't know the answer to that question.

But, ActiveForums and ActiveSocial are two of the best documented modules around and they have very active communities. You can scoot over there, download documentation, and ask for help.

I suspect that when these are integrated into DotNetNuke, that installation will be as easy as adding an available module. It's configuration where things get interested.

And ... DotNetNuke 6 is going to be so full of new stuff that it will take a few months, I expect, for Lee and the gang to get through it all. Check out the current tutorial that addresses some of the new "look and feel" in 6.x. This is a period of time where there is a huge amount of innovation going on with the DotNetNuke product. It's both exciting and scary!
