We have been using DNN for quite a number of years so I am very familiar with it. I am in the process of putting together a proposal that require a change in how the administration of users and security roles are handled. The community version (I haven't looked at the professional version) doesn't allow different levels of user admin. You have a website administrator, and then users.

What I need is the ability for the website administrator create a group administrator that will be able to create / manage users under his group. This logic flow would also require group administrator to create / manage security roles for the his/own group. Of course, the website administrator should be able to handle all users and all security roles on the website.

One potential way out of this is to use the host administrator as the website admin, and the website admin as a group admin. However, we need them all on a single website. So maybe that could be a way of customizing DNN to fit this need.

Can someone tell me:
1. if there is a module out there available that does this already?
2. is there any company who could program this as part of a custom development? and how much it would cost?

What you are asking for is beyond the capability of anything that I know of for DotNetNuke. "Groups" of users just aren't defined that way.

Modules like Active Social do let you set up "groups" and manage them with administrators. But, these groups are only within the context of Active Social modules.

As for customizing DotNetNuke, some of those changes would be right at the base of the framework, so I am not sure that you should think of heading in that direction.
