When installing DNN on Windows 7, I ran into the " DotNetNuke Application cannot connect to a valid SQL Server database "  Issue, Lee's fifth video on the
DNN install for Windows 7 is excellent, but neither of the solutions worked for me.

Reading extensively through the forum, there seems to be a hint that the connection strings in the web. config file might be the problem, is this true?, if so does anyone know what seetings I should amend to fix the problem?

That is the the problem.

Note that there are two copies.

Start by using SQL Server Management Studio Express to connect to the database. When you connect correctly you have the server name, user id and password checked. Then, it's a matter of getting the form of the connection string correct.

You might want to post what you are using, after sanitizing those three items.

Thank you soo much for replying, I really need the help and your confirmation that I was on the right track is so much appreciated, I was nearly going to Umbraco for a CMS.

Anyway, here's my connection strings attached in a notepad doc, (the copy and paste of the strings didn't work for some reason).
