From Host/Modules clicking on some of the pencils I get " A critical error has occurred. Object reference not set to an instance of an object." This doesn't sound too good to me. I did an application restart with no effect. Any advice?

Which version of DotNetNuke are you using? Look in the Event Log to see if you can find some additional information about the error.

You can look at DotNetNuke's Event Log from Admin, Event Log.

Based on some of the words, it could be a permissions problem. Make sure that the ASP.NET user has full permissions to your web directory.
