Hi, I am using a DNN source version, and the code is compiled successfully and runs well. I am using “web deployment project 2008” to deploy the DNN web site to get a release version with no code inside (Just some dlls and aspx pages). Once I try to make a deployment version of the site to put it on the remote server, the solution built successfully, but when I try to use this release version, the login control disappears leaving an Icon (icon_authentication_32px.gif) instead. This problem occurs on both the local and remote servers. I am using version 5.1.2, and this is tested after a clean installation with no edits or page addition to the main site. I am choosing the following deployment options in the web deployment project: - Release deployment. - Merge each individual folder to its own assembly. I need your help, please. Thanks in advance.

This is definitely not the standard way of doing things. Have you made modifications to the source?

well,
Thanks for replying sir,
I did tried to add modules to the DNN site, but this is not a modification to the source of the DNN. After I tried to deploy the version with the modules, same thing happened, so I decided to try deploying DNN after a fresh installation to check if this is from the modules I added, or just from the Web deployment project.
So, I got the same thing occur agian, what is your advice sir?
Thanks for being patient to read my long reply.

My advice is to install the Install package, and then install the needed modules.

I like how responsive you are sir, thank you.
I know that you might say that, but there are some parts of the application I am working on, do need some customization in DNN itself. So I need the source code version.
I know that might not be approperiate to ask for, but Could you please sir try the situation I am in by following the steps i tried, and tell me if it did not gave the same result. Then could you please sir direct me to a tutorial that uses Web Deployment project 2008 with DNN.
Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry, but I haven't ever done that, so I really don't have any good advice for you.
But ... if you have a working version of your modified version of DotNetNuke, why not do you install by copying your web directory and database to your live server. Modify web.config to point to your live database server and modify the Portal Alias table to reflect the live URL.
And, I'd seriously advise you NOT to try to run with a modified version of the framework, you'll have a constant struggle trying to keep it current.
I'd also be interested to know what it is in the framework that you find it necessary to modify. Knowing that might help mu understand your particular situation.

Sir,
I already tried to deploy my version of code with the DB to the remote server, and it is working greate, but with code files (.vb) on the server. I needed to deploy it and remove any code files from there, that is why i am trying to deploy some DLLs instead of (.vb) files.
As for the modification part, I will not modify letteraly in the code (I know that, this is not recommended), I will extend some functionalities to suit my case, as:
1- registering users to multiportals in single registration process.
2- make different profiles for different roles in each site.
things like that.
Thanks for trying to help. And I am waiting for more advices from you sir.
