I have been using the DNNSpired DS_PortalTrafficDirector module up until now to redirect users on timeout and it has been working OK. I have a page with this module on it and I have set this page as the login page in the site settings. However I now have a different issue: I have different departments accessing the same portal and when they logout they need to be redirected to different external, NON-DNN URL’s. Now I have written a module to do this successfully. However my problem is when the user is timed out – the DS_PortalTrafficDirector can redirect depending on user roles, but when a user is timed-out, the module doesn’t work – I presume because the user role information is not available. Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how I can redirect different users to different sites upon time out? Any help would be REALLY appreciated.

So how does the following sound for a plan:

1. In my web.config I set the forms authentication timeout to 30 minutes, I believe I can set my session timeout to a different value, say 3 hours.
2. I create a specific page that I set as the login page in the site settings.
3. I the create a redirection module on that page that reads a session object.
4. So when a user logs in, I store their role information in a session object that can then be read by my redirection module

My only issue with the above is that on my test site, run through visual studio 2008, when the user times out, they are not being redirected to the login page I set in the site settings :-(

I have not really experimented with this, can anyone else provide any tips?

Sorry, it's beyond me, but I'm not really a developer. I hope there's a developer out there that knows a thing or two about this! I'd be interested in a solution.
