Good evening

In the DNN site settings, there is a section titled "Site Marketing"
The Site Map URL is set to the local host...Sitemap.aspx.  The value in the textbox appears to not permit editing.

Since this site has been moved up to a Live Site, we would like to submit it to the various search engines, but again the Site Map URL textbox value cannot be edited. 

What should we be doing here?

What is the Verification value used for and how should it be set?

Is there an article or other reference that you can point me to?

I would suggest you use this tool:

GSiteCrawler:

It allows a lot more flexibility in choosing which URLs to submit, you can remove duplicate content issues, and setup filters to remove certain pages from modules.

The verification section is for when you sign up to Google Webmaster tools, when you sign up it will ask to verify you are the owner of your website. This box allows you to quickly create a HTML file with the name that Google requests, Google then checks this HTML file is available on your site and therefore verifies you are the owner of the website.

All you need to do is enter the name of the file that Google asks you to create, so for example:

google53c0cef435b2b81e.html

and then click on the create link, this will create the HTML file within the root of your DotNetNuke installation files.

I have a question about the the URL Site Map textbox.  the url string refers to a localhost file.  However the textbox does not allow editing of the string.  How do I change/edit the value in this textbox (as I suspect will be needed for the Live site)?

if you use GSiteCrawler, this will create a site map file for you, all you need to do is upload it to the root of your DotNetNuke installation files.

Once you have done that all you have to do is inform Google that the sitemap.xml file is available to download by registering with the Google Webmaster tools.

Because you are doing this you do not need to use the URL Sitemap textbox.
