I would like to set the default tab permissions for new pages to include an additional security role. I am using DNN 5.0.1. I have created a Role called PageAdmin and I have modified default.page.template as follows: ...
SYSTEM_TAB
VIEW
true
PageAdmin
SYSTEM_TAB
EDIT
true
PageAdmin
... This does note seem to help. Any ideas?

hello,
I have been looking around in v5.1.0 and cannot find another method of doing this if the template method does not work. - I tried using the copy page function, but when you create the copied page you still have to specify the users security roles that can access the page, it does not automatically fill out the roles from the page you are copying.
Thanks,

Sounds like and enhancement that should be added to the core. How do I submit this suggestion?
Also, I have been trying to lock down a system for multiple contributors and there are some problems. I would like to allow contributors to add modules to a section of the portal (a tree from the menu). So I have given them view and edit rights to the page and all sub pages. Now I want this to be inherited automatically on all new pages created.
Another problem: there are modules that appear on ALL PAGES. I want to lock those down so the contributors cannot change them. But, since they can edit the page they have access to all module settings on their page. I only want the contributors to be able to change certain modules.
Conversly, these contributors can set their module to appear on all pages on the site (not just the pages they have rights to). So, we really need some more control over permissions to have multiple contributors to a site and allow them to add modules to a page without messing up other pages on the site.
Any ideas? Third party products available right now?
All I have come up with is to disallow adding modules by removing page edit rights. Only allow contributors module edit rights. Then add robust modules with multiple types of content like Live Content or Publish. It works but I am taking away the some power of DNN and moving toward an article system. It would require the administrator to add modules for the contributors.
Thank you.

Thanks, I'll post the suggestion there. Any ideas about the other things I mentioned? Lee?

the only thing I can think of is to look at 'social' modules - I have not experimented with any of them, but they may provide enhancements that you need.
Have a look at activemodules.com and www.smart-thinker.com
