I'm making my way home from OpenForce, but have some time here in the airport.

Simply, OpenForce '08 was superb. Lots of good presentations, lots of information, lots of good people.
Everyone missed you, Lee!
Mark Gordon forced a bunch of us to go to dinner. We just went to the buffet in Mandalay Bay, but the highlight was sitting around watching people like Steve Fabian, Michael Washington, and Antonio Chagoury designing code for future versions of DotNetNuke at the dinner table.
The OpenSocial event sponsored by ActiveModules on Wednesday night was the hit of the week. Just a big room, food, and a bartender ... and a TON of door prizes. I was pleased to see that several people won subscriptions to DNN Creative. Thanks, Lee! There probably were close to 100 prizes!
The big news from the event is that there will be a version of DotNetNuke called "DotNetNuke Professional." This is a version that is aimed at the business/enterprise customer. It will come with unlimited support, and perhaps "certified" code. Clearly, the DotNetNuke Corporation wants to keep/encourage the community that uses and develops DotNetNuke, but they must also move DotNetNuke to a broader audience. The commitment to open source is there, but DotNetNuke also has to be configured so that it is also more acceptable to "higher scale" clients.
The goal is to position DotNetNuke to be at the "strategic center of the enterprise."
Finally, it was announced that a "release candidate" of DotNetNuke is available for download from the DotNetNuke.com site. This a not recommended for use on live sites (unless you like to live on the bleeding edge), but you can get a feel for "what's next"!

Thanks for the info Joe, yes wish I was there!
I think it's going to be an interesting year with the new plans from the DotNetNuke Corporation.
Have a good flight!

It was truly a great time. I really feel this year was much better than last year. I hope to ge the opportunity to force everyone to have dinner again next year. Who knows? Maybe Lee will come and Sean will attend. Then we'd see some more hard-core genius discussion at the table in addition to the hard-core genius that there was. I was sitting back and listening to all the discussions and thinking to myself that there truly are some smart people involved with DNN.
What a treat. It really was.
