I just watched the Issue 35 videos on print css and thought that they were a good review and refresher. I had forgotten much of what I did in this area last January when I did most of my skin work.
I liked the idea of putting the URLs with the links, but think that in real life one would have to be more selective exactly where it was used. For example, I have addresses linked to Google Maps and they have very long ugly URLs. There might be other URLS within the same area that I would like the URL printed. I'll have to give this some more thought before I try it.
One of the print areas that I have tried with no success to get to work was forcing the printing to "landscape mode" for wide tables. I think that this section of CSS hasn't been implemented in browsers yet. I should re-try now that FireFox 3 is out.
DNN's print methodology on a per module basis is brain-dead. I use
Kevin Schreiner's print method from Bi4CE. This uses a small piece of JavaScript and a "Report.html" located at the web root. It can print the data from multiple modules or divs. The link could have been built into the skin if you wanted. You can see and example with the Print Page icon on my
Listed Homes page. Another great feature of this method is it works with pages that are populated with Ajax.
Another Good Job Lee,
