jtran, and others... I now have problems with downtime (~1 hour per day). Did you experiment such kind of problems ? We have changed server one time, changed application pool, it is ok for 10 days, and then it comes back with downtime... :-( What about other people ???
I am sending my 7th request ticket, without any good solution, I will be obliged to move... :-( Any advice is welcomed !! It will be my second DNN hosting provider which did not give satisfaction. Anyway, I still hope to find a solution with WH4L

I just received a check from WH4L today as a partial refund after I closed my account with them. I'm now with www.godaddy.com - and I know that you'll appreciate the reason. I have been with one other web host before WH4L (1and1) and both WH4L and 1and1 have 1 MAJOR problem. Their support staff are based in the far east and have very bad English / language skills and frequently misunderstand what you are saying. The great thing about GoDaddy is that all the support is US based and native English speakers. Wait times when you call in are short (max I've ever waited was 3 minutes) and they almost always have a solution for you. They are very good. I've been hosting sites for 5 years now and I've learned that the most important thing with hosting is support. I'm very happy with GoDaddy. |

Well... Opinion vary in fact... I was with GoDaddy before, then another hosting provider (Ultima Hosts), and now WH4L. Very satisfied with support, only problem: regular downtime...

We obviously had different experiences. I run 8 DNN sites from 1 code base and DB and there is a fair amount of traffice to those sites and other sites that I'm hosting. I have used 3 hosting companies so far: 1and1, WH4L, and GoDaddy. 1and1 and WH4L, with the sites that I'm running, are much slower. GoDaddy is lightning fast by comparison.
I'm thinking that maybe there's something different about our DNN installations that makes yours better suited to WH4L and mine to GoDaddy when speed is concerned. |

I was a former WH4L customer for several years. While I didn't have any specific complaints, the speed was sufficient and I got help when I needed it. I didn't like being billed in advance and got nickeled and dimed for adding a domains and other charges. I moved to 3Essentials ( http://www.3essentials.com?3eref=15045) and am very happy there. For $14/mo I get up to ten separate DNN installs and databases on a shared server, unlimited emails, no extra charges. They bill by the month. I don't have a lot of volume at my sites, but I haven't noticed any performance problems. Their support has been excellent, they are DNN savvy and usually get back to me quickly. They use the Plesk admin tool which I find much simpler and more robust than the WH4L admin tool. |

I've had WH4L for quite awhile, and I have had performance issues in the past. They charged me to switch from a server that was ASP.NET 1.0/1.1 to ASP.NET 2.0 . Though the server I'm on now has had 100% uptime for over 3 month. Though I've complained in the past, I can't currently.

I agree with that nickel and dime comment about WH4L. On the face of it they tell you that everything is included but when you try and add anything to your account they charge you. That was the second most annoying thing about WH4L. |

Well, just to let you know, I can not continue like that with WH4L, the downtime is 1 hour EVERY DAY now... They keep continue changing me from server to server, without any solution... I have sent an email to CEO (on saturday), no answer since then.... I have 2 tickets opened, no answer from the manager (after several discussion with technical people), I would like to have a solution, to find something which permit to be hosted. Seems like they can not guarantee 99.9% uptime (they claim that 99.9% is related to server, not to application pool...) Conclusion, I have well below 99.9%, but it is related to application pool which is not recycled...
Very sad...I still have hope to find a solution. Cross fingers, I am waiting their feedback...

Hi, I've been with www.webhost4life.org for many years and I'm impressive with its clients' service support and hosting
service; I always introduce it to my friends and other colleagues; My blog "www.needhost.cn" If you want to host your website with them, you may refer to the

WebHost4Life is clearly the best Windows based Web host service I know of. But to say this actually surprised myself, because I have been trying to find a “better” host company and moved away from WebHost4Life in the past year and half. I looked for alternative providers not because of any bad service I see, but because the bad ratings I see from online forums abut Webhost4Life. Now after trying 4 other Windows hosting providers, I can confidently say that WebHost4Life stands out among competitions and I will be a happy customer for a long time to come.
WebHost4Life has many advantages over the competitions, and what I specifically like is the flexibility they provide for the site mangers. For example, their Control Panel web site is more user-friendly and much faster than those of other providers I tried. (most other providers use Plesk what I just hate! Too slow!!) For SQL Server hosting, the Control Panel allows site mangers to backup and restore SQL Server databases in a DIY-way without having to submitting a support ticket. This is very convenient. Plus, their online support has always been prompt and helpful. I highly recommend WebHost4Life.
The site I host with WebHost4life is Karooba.com. We have high hope for this site (we hope it is the next big thing to come) and have worked hard to find the best web hosting provider. I can confidently say that WebHost4Life is the one! |

My experience with webhost4life is recent but that in no way minimizes the value of the folllowing comments. I develop customized DNN sites for customers who want content control but generally don't have the technical expertise to implement their own sites. I do not offer dirt cheap do it yourself websites. I know my customers personally. In that light I need a hosting provider that I can depend on. Over the years I have used three previous hosting providers. The last was for two years. This company provided a reasonably affordable product and adequate support. As my business grew it became necessary for me to consider dedicated hosting. That was too expensive so I was excited when my provider offered Virtual Private Servers (VPS). I jumped at the opportunity. That mistake jeapordized my client relationships. The performance was awful and the support was atagonistic. I quote ******************************************************************* "James, I am sorry there may have been some confusion. The VPS is active until the 1st of December as it has been paid for until then. Unfortunately we cannot pro-rate refund VPS servers as there is a very high overhead for us in setting them up and we do not charge setup fees for VPS servers. I am very sorry that you feel this way but the service does perform normally but your VPS server was overloaded as explained to you and required additional upgrades or additional VPS servers to run efficiently with all the resources located on it. Will you be keeping your account with us? I will check with management to see if we can however give some type of credit on that. ********************************************************************************* With that response I spent the weekend searching for a new hosting provider. Thank goodness I found webhost4life. I bought a shared hosting account and throughly tested the service and support of webhost4life. During the next week I purchased an Advanced VPS and moved all my clients. The performance, support and even control panel have been exceptional. The value for my dollar positions me to offer my clients unparalled service and support. If you are looking for a hosting resource that lives up to its advertising then webhost4life is my recommended choice. While this is my opinion, it is based upon my experience. Thanks webhost4life. I have been with WebHost4Life for almost a year now, and I have been very impressed with the service, ESPECIALLY their customer service. I have not had many complaints, but when I had questions, I was able to resolve them quite quickly using their ticketing system. I also had a chance to use their live-chat option tonight, and spoke with Elainey, who was very patient and helpful. With all the options for hosting and domain services out on the web, my interest always rests on how good the customer service is. These guys have it! |

Hi there, Just to let you know my experience since 2007 when I posted. Everything was solved, after long long discussion and intervention from manager. It runs just great, with some troubles every 3 months. But every 3 months, when I contacted the support, it was always great and solved in few minutes/hours. But now, that's may be interesting to note that WH4L is currently having very big problems with their server (global problem as I have been told). I am hosted on VPS (Virtual Private Server, which is not the lowest price and you should attend a good level of uptime/service/quality). Unfortunately, since 33 days, I am running into very big problems (DNN very very slow, unusable, etc...). They had some issues with server, they migrate all websites to another one. And it is still awfull. Today, my website is still down (since 8 hours). I contacted support, and I do not have any answer. The only answer I got is through chat, where I am informed that "a virus scan" is performed on all server, that's why it is down... Hum, I did not know that virus scan was performed during hours and it was shutting down server (8 hours downtime as I said). :-( I have submitted my ticket to a manager for an answer, and I am waiting a clear statement. I will let you know the end of the story. I sincerely hope that we will be able to find an issue, I was always happy with them, but since 33 days, I can say that it is just awfull. Why ?? I do not know... DV FX PS: Ticket 490213 |

That's amazing, I just found some reviews on Amazon.com. Some of the 5 stars review have been made by... PEOPLE WORKING AT WEBHOST4LIFE !! Look here: Amazon / Webhost4life review (Eric Chen is one of the guy working there, close to CEO person....). Funny. For the moment, my website is still down (36 hours). There are plenty of other servers which are running well (with DNN on it), I have requested to be migrated there, I am waiting a statement. DV FX |

just for your info - I am testing a new uptime reporting service which I find to be really handy - you can test them with a 30 day trial - they will send you an SMS whenever your site is down so you can quickly act to get the problem solved.
Of course this does not help you with your current situation as you are working on getting it fixed, but it maybe useful in the future.

Thanks,
