Portals vs. robot.txt et al

I am setting up a multi-port DNN system with several parent portals. It just dawned on me that there is no root directory for each sub-domain. After trying out a few things DNN operated as I expected the root of the sub-domain appears to the same as the main domain. This means that they all share the same robots.txt, sitemap.xml and urllist.txt! Has anybody actually figured out how to set this up correctly? Can these files have URLS from multiple domain/sub-domains? Do Google and Yahoo do the right thing here? Am I actually better off without these files? Since it takes weeks to months to see how Google and friends treat these files I am hopping that someone else has been down this path. Are there other files I need to lookout for like Google's file for verifying that you are the administrator of the site? /Dave

hi Dave, This is a good point and it's something I have not experimented with. All the sites where I have used Google site maps are for separate installations of DotNetNuke. if I recall correctly the Google file for verifying that you are the administrator of the site is identical if you use the same Google account, so this should not be a problem. For the Google site map I would recommend using a tool such as GSiteCrawler - we interviewed the software designer for GSIteCrawler on this page: http://www.dnncreative.com/Articles...fault.aspx You may be able to create one big Google site map that incorporates your main domain and sub domain links all in one file. - it would probably be worth contacting the Google user group for GSiteCrawler for any tips on configuring this, you can find their contact details on the GSiteCrawler download page.http://johannesmueller.com/gs/ Hope this helps, thanks,
