I've got to believe that there is something going on with IIS that is causing this. Are there any host headers or other things associated with your website? Is there any chance that you can try doing an install on another computer? |

If you can't connect to the server, problems that you might be having could be related to that issue. |

I know that this is an old thread but the problem can still appear in the latest versions of DNN.
It appears that there have been some updates in DNN 5 that stop the following Snapis hint from working:
"Also, if you can get access to your DB then you can run a query to fix this problem.
Update Portals Set LoginTabId=null Where PortalId=xx"
Note that the LoginTabId field is now contained in the PortalLocalization table so the query that needs to be used in DNN5 is:
Update PortalLocalization Set LoginTabId=null Where PortalId=xx"
I've attached an updated version of John's OpenSesame solution for DNN 5 to this reply. I haven't tested it but it is such a minor change there shouldn't be a problem. Instructions are at his blog link at http://blogs.snapsis.com/PermaLink,...1906.aspx. |

Is this a new installation, or one that has quit working? Which version of DotNetNuke?

If navigating to login.aspx directly doesn't work, see if this old standby helps. If not, ask again and I may have some other suggestions. |

Thanks Lee!
The trick to open Login page worked for me when I have freshly installed DNN 5.6.1 and found Login page not working. Using this technique I could login once and create a new Page called Login, place Login module on it and tag that Login page in Site settings. Thanks again.
But I have similar problem with Home.aspx page as well. After logout or pressing on Home goes to Home.aspx and the page does not exists. It should have pointed to default.aspx. Not sure why
Please provide magic trick again! If you can explain why it behaves like this pls pls pls do so. |

I had this problem occur seemingly at random, but it was after a database restore due to some sort of database corruption. I used the web-developer toolbar in firefox to delete my domain cookies -- after this happened, the login control was visible again. |
