Just watched your new Bootstrap 3 tutorial - absolutely perfect! Every time I come to the site and watch videos however it's like chocolate, always want more...

I have a couple skin designs coming up I'll be using Bootstrap 3 and I'm also going to need to use Mega Menus - anyone have resources, examples to refer me to?

Are there any mega-menus included with Bootstrap. If so, you can go through the process outlined in the tutorial to convert that to a DDR Template. If no, you might look at converting the DDR Mega-Menu template to a responsive one.

The DDR Template is not too hard to understand, provided that you have some html/xslt/jQuery experience.

On way to start would be to look for sites that use a Mega-Menu responsively.

Are you guys going to re-do the second part of the series for Bootstrap 3 as well?

I just reviewed the second Bootstrap tutorial.

You should be able to use this directly. The only real difference is that the spanxx classes need to be replaced by the col-xx-yy classes. That should be it.

I have done the second part now and it worked out well, exempt for this;

-How to add the user/login skin object to the skin
-Using jQuery to add the appropriate css classes to the user/login skin object

When I added the jQuery to the code it stacked the user and login on top of each other, which obviously did not look good.

Are you guys going to do a follow up to that one?

It would be nice to see one that shows how to add the slide-show and other higher level parts of bootstrap into DNN.

I'll certainly pass these suggestions to Andy.

While you are waiting, you can probably figure out much of these things from the code on the page that you mention together with the example here: http://www.dnncreative.com/Training...ault.aspx. There is also a tutorial that shows how to use the dnnModal, and that should be quite transferrable to Bootstrap.


Basically, you put an HTML module on the page, and add the appropriate HTML markup (as shown on the Bootstrap example page). Then you need to add the script code. This can also be added in the same HTML module. And, that pretty much is it.

That should work pretty well for carousel, tabs, modals.

For tables, just add classes to tables in an HTML module.

For something like links in the side navigation, it would be useful to use something like the DNN Links module for the links, and see about modifying the HTML structure so that it can be used with the Bootstrap requirements. That one will be a bit more complicated.

The Menu in your Site where also good to teach in a Lession
with slide Effects and diferent Colors ....

I am still in the design stage the next few weeks but will be jumping back into the DNN front end build soon.

Until we have some more tutorials, many of the items that you have listed are VERY easy to do.

If you are using a Bootstrap based skin and follow the tutorials, most of the required files are already included in the skin. Then simply cut and paste the code examples into a Text/HTML module (in HTML mode). Of course, to customize you will have to edit the HTML to include your text, images, etc.

But, stay tuned. We will have some of that in the upcoming tutorials.

And, check the tutorials also for the DNN wrappers for tabs and modal popups.
