The FCK Editor allows you to customize which toolbar buttons are available for use, this is called a toolbar set. In this tutorial we demonstrate how to create your own custom toolbar sets in the FCK Editor and how you can assign different toolbar sets to various security roles.
In this tutorial we create and apply a custom toolbar to the users that have a security role of ‘Basic Admin.’ We configure the ‘Basic Admin’ security role to only give users access to edit pages, they do not have full administration privileges, so we also limit what functions they can access in the FCK Editor toolbar.
We also demonstrate how to give the administrators access to the full FCK Editor toolbar set, and registered users access to a basic toolbar set, for instance registered users could be using the FCK editor in your forum, so we only want to give them a limited set of options in the toolbar when they are posting questions into the forum.
Being able to control which users have access to certain functions in the FCK Editor toolbar is an essential step for keeping control of the content users are allowed to add into your DotNetNuke portal.
