In this tutorial we demonstrate how to upgrade DotNetNuke using the manual method. This method has to be used when upgrading any DotNetNuke versions below 4.6.2.
The manual method of upgrading will work for any version of DotNetNuke.
If your version of DotNetNuke is above v4.6.2 then you can use the
auto merge upgrade method which we have covered in a separate tutorial. The auto merge method is much quicker for upgrading as you no longer have to edit the web.config file.
In this tutorial we upgrade DotNetNuke v4.4.1 to v4.6.2. If you wish to upgrade to v5.x then follow the
auto merge upgrade tutorial once you have upgraded to v4.6.2. In this tutorial we demonstrate the steps that you would follow for upgrading a live website.
