Hello,

I'm sure I'm just missing something, but when I try to import .jpg files into my standard dnn document module, the list is blank.  I have checked the folder and file permissions in File Manager and I have tried this under both the admin and host logins.

Can someone help me pull my head out?

Thanks,

Kevin

Have you also made sure that .jpg is a file type that you are allowed to upload (though it seems that it would be the case).

Yes, I haven't changed the default there and it includes jpg files.

I just uploaded a jpg file to the documents module on my test site. No problems.

When you say that "the list is blank" ... which list?

The file selection list you use when you attempt to import a file into the document module.

I've attached two screenshots.  The first is my file manager.  As you can see the Newsletter folder has five .jpg files in it and the folder permissions are set to View for All Users.  The second is the import selection where you can see it is blank.

Thanks for your help.

Kevin

There's nothing like a good screen shot or two to help the understanding.

You've added files via the File Manager, and now you want to make these available in the Documents Module. What you want to do is "Add a Document" using the Document Module's dropdown menu. Then you fill in the form to describe the document and you select the file using the two dropdown boxes labelled "Link." When you are done, click "Update" at the bottom. Note that you also have the option to upload new files right here, rather than in the File Manager.

Ah, okay that makes sense.  I told you somebody needed to help my pull my head out!
So, what is the "import content" for?

Thanks,

Kevin

Export and Import are operations by which you can Export all of the content of a module into an XML file. That can then be used to Import the same data into an empty module of the same sort.
