One of my templates has 8 modules on it.  I don't want 8 print buttons and I don't want 8 visibility buttons.  In fact, as per 95% of proffessional websites, I don't any print buttons, or visibility icons at all.  Why do these default to being on?  This seems absolutely ridiculous.  Surely they should be opt-in?

Anyway, how do I set the default parameters of all Text/HTML modules, site-wide?  I want visibility to be set to none and I don't want a print button, anywhere.  My client doesn't want to mess about with module settings.  He's happy to add a text module and then populate it but he doesn't want to then have to mess about trawling through the module settings, trying to turn these rubbish features off.  Especially when his product pages have up to 8 modules.

This is a product page on his site:

I'm desperately trying to find love for DotNetNuke but I'm struggling.

As noted elsewhere, you can use a container that doesn't include those features.

You can also edit a module on a page, turn off the features that you don't like, and check the box to set those as the page defaults. Every module on the page will be affected.

Nice one.  So can you point me in the direction where this is "noted elsewhere" please?  And how do I build a container that doesn't have these features turned on?  I presume I then make this the site default container.

Thanks for the help.

I think what jncraig meant to say is, open your default container and remove [ACTIONBUTTON:3] to get rid of the print button and then remove [VISIBILITY] to remove the pointless [-] visibility buttons.

Forums attract a certain class of righteous individual.  Usually referring to the useless forum search or previous unmentioned posts and always failing to offer any help, at all.

I'm sorry.  As a member of the DNNCreative Staff, I'm here to answer questions.  I wasn't attempting to be righteous or offer no help at all.

The "mentioned elsewhere" referred to the pretty good answer that was given to this same question on the DotNetNuke forum.

You can look here for:
I also yhink that the two books about DotNetNuke skinning are quit useful, as is the DNN Skinning Toolkit.

Finally, Lee's free skins include some useful generic containers such as theb transparent container with no title.

Removing tokens from the containers is the best way to do this, however there is also a default settings option which may come in handy for other settings/options.

Go to a modules settings menu,
setup visibility, allow print etc in the Module Settings / page settings area
inside here, expand advanced settings
Tick 'set as default settings'
Click update

Whenever you add a module to a page, it will now use those default settings
